The Tactical Treatment of Gunshot Wounds course is primarily for home owners/defenders, firearms instructors, range safety officers and police officers any of whom may suddenly find themselves in the position of providing initial care and stabilization of a gunshot wound victim. This is a MUST HAVE class for all Firearms Instructors.

Someone that is bleeding excessively from a gunshot or similar wound has as little as 90 seconds to live. Don't just stand there, learn to ACT FAST, learn the techniques anyone can use to buy the precious time needed until EMS arrives. In this course you will review and practice some of the following and much more:

  • Situational Safety & Security Considerations
  • Treatment of Massive Bleeding utilizing Stop The Bleed Training
  • Treatment of Airway Obstructions
  • Treatment of a Tension Pneumothorax with Chest Seals
  • Tourniquet Staging & Application
  • Stabilize- Use of M.A.R.C.H. concept for battlefield medicine.
  • After Stabilization- P.A.W.S. application & concerns.
  • Differences between SOFTT, SWAT-T, RAT & CAT Tourniquets
  • When and how to Pack wounds and use Hemostatic Agents
  • Treatment of Evisceration Injuries
  • Using our Blowout kits / IFAKs

Attendees will receive live instruction, scenarios, hands-on demonstrations/practice utilizing tourniquets, hemostatic agents, chest seals and more. Each student will receive a Course Certificate.

This is NOT a general First-Aid & CPR class, however we highly suggest getting certified in general First-Aid, CPR & AED also. This course specifically covers gunshot wounds, stopping massive bleeding, airway obstructions, and trauma associated gunshot wounds.

How do you treat a gunshot wound?
1 Stay Safe. Get to safety, make sure cease fire is called, shooter/victims disarmed 2 Call 911 and follow the instructions from the dispatcher. 3 Stop life threatening bleeding. 4 If the victim isn't breathing, begin CPR. Important Points. Do not elevate legs to treat for shock if the gunshot wound is above the waist (unless the gunshot wound is in the arm). 5 Physics of Gunshot Wounds.
