Gals and Guns (Beginner Handgun Training for Women – Level 1) – 4 Hours $150

(Maximum 12 participants)

 

Ladies – this class is designed with you in mind. Even with little or no experience you will get firearm training in a professional, yet non-aggressive environment. The goal of this informative class is to practice gun safety techniques, discuss the differences between handguns, understand firearm nomenclature and employ correct shooting fundamentals. The first portion of this class will be dedicated to classroom instruction during which participants are encouraged to ask all the handgun related questions they like. Following the classroom instruction, participants will have the opportunity to shoot a revolver and a semi-automatic handgun. Overall, this class provides a great foundation of knowledge for the beginning woman shooter.

Course Requirements:

  • You must be at least 21 years of age
  • Handguns, ammunition and eye and ear protection will be provided by OnTarget
  • Personal firearms are allowed and encouraged
  • Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
  • Bring a readiness to learn and a great attitude!

All inclusive calibers include .22LR, 9mm, .38 SPL, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.

A FOID card is not necessary for introductory courses or out-of-state residents.

Guys and Guns (Beginner Handgun Training for Men – Level 1) – 4 Hours $150

(Maximum 12 participants)

This is the all-inclusive, introductory handgun class for men who are seeking basic handgun training from professional firearm trainers. The goal of the class is to practice safety techniques, discuss the differences of various handguns, understand firearm nomenclature and employ correct shooting fundamentals. Questions are highly encouraged and participants will have the opportunity to shoot a revolver and semi-automatic handgun. This class serves as a great learning foundation for subsequent advanced-level classes as well.

Course Requirements:

  • You must be at least 21 years of age
  • Handguns, ammunition and eye and ear protection will be provided by OnTarget
  • Personal firearms are allowed and encouraged
  • Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
  • Bring a readiness to learn and a great attitude!

Gun Couples (Beginner Handgun Training for Couples – Level 1) – 4 Hours $275 per couple

(Maximum 8 Couples)

The ideal class for couples who are beginning handgun enthusiasts and who seek firearm training in a professional learning environment. Gun Couples provides a great place for couples to learn about handguns while developing a new hobby to share. The goal of this informative class is to practice gun safety techniques, discuss the differences between handguns, understand firearm nomenclature and employ correct shooting fundamentals. The first portion of this class will be dedicated to classroom instruction during which participants are encouraged to ask all the handgun related questions they like. Following the classroom instruction, participants will have the opportunity to shoot a revolver and a semi-automatic handgun. Overall, this class provides a great foundation of knowledge for the beginning shooter to build upon. All “couples” are welcome including a parent with adult child.

Course Requirements:

  • You must be at least 21 years of age
  • Handguns, ammunition and eye and ear protection will be provided by OnTarget
  • Personal firearms are allowed and encouraged
  • Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
  • Bring a readiness to learn and a great attitude!

Handgun Essentials – 2 Hours – $100

(Maximum 6 Participants)

This abbreviated class is ideal for those beginning shooters looking for a streamlined introduction to handguns. The first hour will cover firearm safety, nomenclature, and marksmanship fundamentals. In the second hour, participants will sample a revolver and semi-automatic pistol under the close supervision of an OnTarget instructor. This seminar is designed to welcome new shooters into the sport. “Handgun Essentials” is not intended to serve as an equivalent to our more extended 4-hour beginner classes: Gals/Guys and Guns and Gun Couples.

Class Requirements:

  • Ages 12 and up. Ages 12-20 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • All firearms and ammunition will be provided by OnTarget
  • Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
  • Eye and ear protection will be provided by OnTarget
  • Participants must register by phone, online, or in our pro shop. No walk-ins please.
  • Bring a safe mindset and a great learning attitude!

Intermediate Handgun (Intermediate Handgun Training Co-ed – Level 2) – 3 Hours $125

(Maximum 6 Participants)

Handgun graduates, now that you have a basic understanding of firearm fundamentals, this class serves as the perfect opportunity to hone your marksmanship skills and become more confident with the handling of your firearm. Learn new techniques and principles to further enhance your shooting skills. Develop shooting fundamentals such as stance, grip, sight alignment, breath control, trigger control and follow-through.

Class Requirements:

  • You must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid FOID card.
  • You must have completed a Beginner Level Handgun course.
  • Bring your own handgun or rent one from our pro shop
  • Bring 100 rounds of ammunition specific for your firearm or purchase in our pro shop
  • Bring eye and ear protection
  • Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
  • Bring the same great attitude you brought to the first class!

Advanced Handgun Skills (Advanced Handgun – Level 3) – 3 Hours $125

(Maximum 6 Participants)

Bring your shooting skills to a new level. Learn the techniques of drawing from the holster, speed reloads and quick target engagement. You will be challenged with a variety of shooting scenarios encompassing the above skills. Further, you will add to your shooting experience by learning such advanced shooting techniques as engaging targets at various distances, practicing different shooting positions, and shooting from behind cover.

Class Requirements:

  • You must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid FOID card.
  • You must have completed an Intermediate Level handgun course.
  • Semi-automatic pistol with three magazines or revolver with speed loader
  • Hip holster with magazine pouch
  • Bring 100 rounds of ammunition specific to your firearm
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class

Handgun “Skill and Drills” – 2 Hours $100

(Maximum 6 Participants)

This exciting night of handgun shooting is designed as a special bonus for those OnTarget students who have transcended from the beginner to advanced skill level. This training event will encompass holster draw, combat reloading, engaging multiple targets and shooting from various concealed positions. With “Skills and Drills,” we are only limited by safety concerns and our own creativity. Participants should expect to have their skills honed and their talents cultivated. Our expert instructors will be right behind you as they gently “push” each shooter to his or her limits while focusing on practical pistolcraft. Handgun “Skills and Drills” is presented in three separate blocks of training.

Skills and Drills I – Speed and Accuracy

  • Turn and shoot drills (colors and shapes)
  • Rapid combat reload drills
  • Holster draw single and multiple targets at various distances
  • Rapid fire drills

Skills and Drills II – Movement and Cover

  • Lateral movement (providing your own cover fire)
  • Combat reloads on the move
  • Use of cover (standing, kneeling, prone)
  • Forward movement around obstacles

Skills and Drills III – Shooting Challenges

  • Malfunctions under stress
  • One handed shooting (strong hand/weak hand)
  • How to chamber a round one-handed
  • Draw and shoot from driver’s seat
  • Draw and shoot from restaurant table
  • Draw and shoot under a car

Course Requirements:

  • You must be a graduate of Advanced Handgun Skills or an equivalent experience.
  • Bring Personal handgun
  • Outside the waistband hip holster
  • At least two magazines or speed-loaders (revolver)
  • Magazine pouch
  • Each student will provide their own 100 rounds of ammunition specific to your firearm
  • Appropriate non-restrictive range clothing
  • High traction footwear
  • Eye and ear protection
  • A great learning attitude!

NOTE: Expect to assume various shooting positions from the standing, kneeling and prone. Participants will also be shooting on the move in some exercises.

Low-Light Shooting Techniques (Handgun) – 3 Hours – $100

(Maximum 6 Participants)

A stormy night . . . the power is out . . . an armed intruder is in your home. Have you prepared yourself for this equation? Learn to overcome the challenges of low-light shooting. Significantly different than shooting in normal lighting, knowing the proper techniques of low-light shooting will improve your home defense strategy. You will be introduced to shooting techniques with and without a flashlight. Instruction will also include stealthy movement techniques, use of night sights, target identification issues, and using low-light conditions to your advantage.

Class Requirements:

  • You must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid FOID card.
  • You must be a graduate of On Target’s Intermediate Handgun Class (Level 2).
  •  Student will need to bring 150 rounds of ammunition specific to your firearm
  • Handgun and handheld flashlight (rail mounted tactical light allowed, but handheld still required)
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class

Holster Drills (Level 2) – 2 Hours – $75

(Maximum 6 Participants)

Learn the safe and proper techniques for carrying a concealed and holstered firearm – indispensable information for the new CCW licensee. Beginning with a discussion of holster types and uses, students will spend classroom time learning and perfecting the techniques specific to their handgun and holster combination. Following the classroom portion, participants will undergo live-fire, holster draw exercises on the range.

Class Requirements:

  • You must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid FOID card.
  • You must have completed basic firearms training at OnTarget, or commensurate training, and hold a CCW certificate.
  • Bring a personal handgun and appropriate holster (strong-side, inside or outside the waistband).
  • Each student will need to bring 100 rounds of ammunition specific to your firearm
  • Shirt or jacket that conceals holster
  • Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
  • Eye and ear protection
